Check the internet connection status

Initially, make sure that the computer that you’re using to access your AOL mail is connected to a stable internet connection because poor or unstable internet connections may also lead to AOL not syncing with Outlook issues.

Verify your account details

After ensuring the internet connection, check whether your AOL mail account settings are configured correctly. If not, configure them correctly, and then try to sync your AOL mail account with Outlook.

In case you’ve recently changed your account password, but you haven’t updated it in the Outlook application, update it first and then try to sync your account.

Similarly, make sure that your account’s IMAP or POP3 and SMTP settings are configured correctly. Now, try to sync.

Method 1: Renaming folders

This method has helped many AOL users to resolve this issue. To rename the folder, follow the below instructions.

  • Step 1: Launch the Outlook application.
  • Step 2: Check to ensure that your computer is connected to the internet.
  • Step 3: Now, go to the Inbox section of Outlook.
  • Step 4: Note down the list of folders available in the Inbox and exist from the Outlook application.
  • Step 5: Now, sign in to your AOL mail account over web access.
  • Step 6: Open the Inbox folder.
  • Step 7: Now, rename all the folders based on your preferences.
  • Step 8: After renaming all the folders, sign out from the AOL mail account.
  • Step 9: Now, open the Outlook application and perform the sync operation.

The configuration process takes place. After the configuration process, the shared mailbox will be added to the left side in Outlook for Mac.

Solution 4: Try removing and re-adding the mailbox

You can try basic troubleshooting by disconnecting the mailbox because shared mailboxes might go through configuration issues. Here’s how to remove and re-add the shared mailbox.

  • Step 1: Initially, select the folders (in Outlook) that contain the emails that you wish to move.
  • Step 2: After selecting, access your AOL mail account over the web.
  • Step 3: Create a new folder.
  • Step 4: After creating it, select and move the emails to the newly created folder.
  • Step 5: Once all the emails are moved successfully, sign out from your AOL mail account, and launch the Outlook application.
  • Step 6: Perform the sync process to check whether the sync issue is resolved.
