Gmail SMTP Error Could Not Connect To SMTP Host

If you receive any Gmail SMTP error could not connect to SMTP Host try the below-mentioned troubleshooting methods.

Solution: 1

  • Using the Antivirus software for real-time protection and enabling the web-based protection to prevent phishing emails causes the SMTP host failure.
  • Due to this, you will not be able to send any messages using the SMTP host.
  • If you are using Avast Antivirus, open the application and click the Settings tab at the left side panel.
  • Select Components and click the Customize option under the Mail Shield tab if the SMTP error could not connect to SMTP Host.
  • Under Mail Settings, uncheck the Scan outbound mail(SMTP) checkbox and click the OK button.
  • Close the Avast Antivirus application and try connecting to your SMTP host.

  • On your web browser, navigate to the Gmail sign-in page.
  • Enter your email address and password to log on to your Gmail account.
  • Navigate to the Account Security window and click Sign-in & security.
  • Scroll down the page and toggle on the “Allow less secure apps: ON” button.
  • Now, log out from your account and close the Gmail window.
  • Check the php.ini file for the SMTP server settings.
  • If you have entered the SMTP settings incorrectly, the SMTP host will not connect to the Gmail SMTP server. 
  • Try sending an email and check if the error appears again.
