Step 1

Open the Microsoft Outlook 2010 application.

Step 2

Click the File tab at the upper-left corner of the screen.

Step 3

  • Step 1:Navigate to the Info tab in the left panel.
  • Step 2:Go to the Account Settings drop-down menu.
  • Step 3:Choose the Account Settings option.

Step 4

On the Email Accounts screen, click the Email tab followed by the New button.

  • Step 1:When the Auto Account Setup screen opens, select the Manually configure server settings or additional server types radio button.

  • Step 1:On the Choose Service screen, select the Internet E-mail radio button and click the Next button.

  • Step 1:Now, the Internet E-mail Settings screen will open.
  • Step 2:Enter the AOL account details as provided here.

In the User Information section:

  • Step 1:Your Name - Your display name
  • Step 2:E-mail Address - Your AOL email address

In the Server Infirmation:

  • Step 1:Account Type - IMAP
  • Step 2:Incoming mail server - imap.aol.com
  • Step 3:Outgoing mail server - smtp.aol.com

In the Logon Information section:

  • Step 1:User Name - Your AOL email address
  • Step 2:Password - Your AOL email password
  • Step 3:Select the Remember password checkbox to save your AOL email password in the Outlook 2010.
  • Step 4:Select or deselect the Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) checkbox.
  • Step 5:To proceed with the configuration of your AOL account using IMAP settings in Outlook 2010, click the More Settings button.

  • Step 1:When the Internet E-mail Settings window pops up, navigate to the Outgoing Server tab and select the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication checkbox.
  • Step 2:Also, you have to select the Use same settings as my incoming mail server radio button.

  • Step 1:In the Internet E-mail Settings window, click the Advanced tab.
  • Step 2:Fill the fields using the details given below to configure Aol IMAP settings Outlook 2010.

In the Server Port Numbers section:

  • Step 1:Incoming server (IMAP) - 993
  • Step 2:Use the following type of encrypted connection - SSL
  • Step 3:Outgoing server (SMTP) - 465
  • Step 4:Use the following type of encrypted connection - SSL
  • Step 5:To save the AOL account settings, click the OK button in the Internet E-mail Settings window.

To test your email account settings, select the Test Account Settings by clicking the Next button checkbox and click the Next button.

  • Step 1:If you have entered your email account settings correctly, you will see the Congratulations! All tests completed successfully message on the screen.
