How To Cofigure Aol Incoming Mail Server Settings?

Steps to generate AOL app password:

When you create an app password for your email client in AOL, you can easily access your email account from any email client. The app password is not the same as your email password, and you can access your AOL account in your email client only using the app password. Here, we have given the steps to create an app password for Outlook.

  • Step 1:On your computer, launch the default web browser and log into your AOL mail account.
  • Step 2:Click Account Settings on the left side of the web page and then click Generate app password.
  • Step 3:A new screen appears; click the Select your app drop-down box and then select Outlook Desktop from the list.
  • Step 4:Now, click Generate.
  • Step 5:Copy the app password.
  • Step 6:Launch the Outlook mail app, type your AOL mail id, and then click Connect.
  • Step 7:Go to the Outlook setting.
  • Step 8:Below the Logon Information, you have to paste the generated app password while configure AOL incoming mail server settings.

How to set up AOL incoming server settings?

  • Step 1:Launch the Outlook mail app on your Windows computer.
  • Step 2:To open the Server Settings in Outlook, click Files > Info > Account Settings > Server Settings.
  • Step 3:In the Account Type drop-down box, select IMAP.
  • Step 4:Check the Incoming mail server – ‘imap.aol.com’
  • Step 5:In the Outgoing mail server (SMTP) text box, enter ‘smtp.aol.com’
  • Step 6:Under Logon Information, make sure you have entered your AOL login credentials correctly.
  • Step 7:Enter the generated app password in the password text field.
  • Step 8:In the same dialog box, click the More Settings > Outgoing server (SMTP) tab.
  • Step 9:Make sure the My outgoing (SMTP) requires authentication checkbox is ticked.
  • Step 10:Now, check the Use same settings as my incoming mail server radio button is selected.
  • Step 11:Now, click the Advanced tab and check if the port number in the Incoming server (IMAP) text box is ‘993,’ then check if the Outgoing server (SMTP) text box is ‘465’. If the values are not correct, change the port number as mentioned above.
  • Step 12:If the server setting is complete, restart your computer and sign in to the AOL account.
  • Step 13:Within few minutes, you will receive all the AOL messages in the inbox.
