How to Configure Yahoo Email in Outlook 2010?

If you want to configure yahoo email in outlook 2010 email client, perform the following steps.

  • Click the Microsoft Outlook 2010 application icon in the system tray to launch its main interface on the screen.
  • When you click the File tab, the Account Information window opens.
  • Select the Add Account option. This will start the Add New Account wizard.

Automatic Setup

  • Select the radio button next to the Email Account option.
  • Fill the Your Name, Email Address, Password, and Retype Password fields.
  • Once you select the Next option, the Outlook 2010 application configures the Yahoo mail account automatically.

Manual Setup

  • Select the checkbox next to the ‘Manually configure server settings’ option and click the Next button in the Cannot Log on to Server window.
  • When the Choose Service window appears, select the Internet Email option followed by the Next option.
  • This will open the Internet Email Settings dialog box on the screen.
  • Navigate to the User Information section and provide the correct information in the Your Name and Email Address fields.
  • Go to the Server Information section and select either the POP3 or IMAP protocol from the Account Type drop-down menu for configure yahoo email in outlook 2010.
  • If you choose the POP3 account type, type the pop.mail.yahoo.com hostname in the Incoming Mail Server field.
  • If you choose the IMAP account type, enter imap.mail.yahoo.com in the Incoming Mail Server field.
  • Type the smtp.mail.yahoo.com in the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) field.
  • Fill the User Name and Password fields. If necessary, select the Remember option.
  • If required, select the checkbox beside the ‘Test Account Settings by clicking the Next button’ option.
  • Go to the Outgoing Server tab, select My outgoing server requires authentication Use same settings as my incoming mail server Advanced.
  • After selecting the SSL/TLS option from the ‘Use the following type of encrypted connection’ menu.
  • Type the 995 (POP3) or 993 (IMAP) port in the Incoming Server field. Enter either the 587 or 465 port in the Outgoing Mail Server field.
  • As soon as you select the Next option, the Test Account Settings dialog box opens.
  • Close this dialog box after you see the Completed status. Now, you can send/receive emails with encryption after you complte the Configure Yahoo Email in Outlook 2010.
