How To Create SMTP Server?  

SMTP stands for Simple Mail Transfer Protocol. An SMTP server allows you to send emails from your device in which you have configured your email account. If you are looking for the quick steps to create SMTP server on your Windows computer, refer to the steps given on our site. You need to install the Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) and Microsoft SMTP service to create an SMTP server.

Follow these steps to install IIS and SMTP service on your Windows computer:

  • If you want to create SMTP server first you have to install IIS so, click the Start menu available at the bottom-left corner of the screen.
  • Click the Control Panel tab and give a double-click on the Add/Remove Programs button.
  • Select Add/Remove Windows Components and click on Internet Information Services (IIS) in the Windows Components Wizard.
  • Click the Details button and enable all the checkboxes.
  • Click OK and then select Next on the Windows Components screen.
  • On the Completing the Windows Components Wizard screen, click Finish followed by Close.
  • After completing the installation, set up the IIS SMTP server.

Setting up the IIS SMTP server on your Windows computer:

  • Open the Control Panel app first and then click the Programs tab.
  • Select 'Turn Windows Features On or Off' from the left-side panel.
  • Click the Allow button and expand Internet Information Services.
  • Ensure that you have already installed the SMTP server.
  • Next, open the Run dialog box by pressing the Windows + R shortcut keys.
  • Type 'inetmgr' in the text field and press the Enter button to open the IIS Manager.
  • In the IIS Manager window, give a right-click on the Default SMTP Virtual Server tab and select New from the pop-up menu.
  • Next, select Virtual Server and enter the necessary SMTP settings in the New Virtual Server Wizard.
  • Once you enter the required credentials the task create SMTP server is completed.
