  • Log in to your Gmail account.
  • In the top-right section of your screen, click the Gear icon.
  • Select the Settings option.
  • Choose Inbox.
  • Click the drop-down list provided for Inbox Type and select the Unread First option.
  • Now, you have to select the number of unread emails you wish to view at the top of your inbox. You can choose 5, 10, 25, or 50 unread emails. This number will vary based on your preference and how busy your inbox is at present.
  • Navigate to the bottom of your page and click the Save Changes button.
  • Go back to your inbox. You will now find that your unread emails are at the top of the inbox.
  • All the other mails will be moved further down the page.

Method 2-Search for Emails using the Unread Label:

When you want to find older unread emails, you have to make use of labels. Carry out the instructions given below, to use labels and find unread emails in gmail:

  • On the left-hand side of your screen, go to the Labels section.
  • Choose the label group in which you wish to search.
