Cannot Access Gmail from Outlook

If you aren't able to access your Gmail account on Outlook, follow the below-mentioned troubleshooting steps.

  • On your computer, open the default browser and go to the Gmail Sign-In page.
  • Log in to your Gmail account using the correct credentials.
  • Click the Settings icon available at the top-right corner of the screen and select Settings from the drop-down menu.
  • Click the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab and navigate to the IMAP Access section to fix the issue cannot access Gmail from outlook.
  • Select the Enable IMAP radio button and click Save Changes.
  • Click the profile picture available at the top-right corner of the screen and select My Account.
  • Click the Security tab and select Basic Settings.
  • Scroll down the page and toggle on the Allow less secure apps for all users button.
  • Click the Save button and launch the Outlook app on your computer.
  • Remove your Gmail account if it is configured automatically in the Outlook app.
  • Click the File tab and select Info from the left-side panel.
  • Click the Add Account button and select the "Manually configure server settings or additional server types" checkbox.
  • Click the Next button and IMAP as your account type.
  • On the "Internet E-mail Settings" screen, you need to configure User Information, Server Information, and Logon Information.
  • Under User Information, enter your Gmail address and its password.
  • Under Server Information, choose IMAP from the Account Type drop-down menu.
  • Enter the incoming mail server name (for example, imap.gmail.com) in the Incoming Mail Server field.
  • Enter the outgoing mail server name (for example, smtp.gmail.com) in the Outgoing Mail Server field.
  • Under Logon Information, enter your Gmail address in the User Name field and type the password in the Password field.
  • Click the More Settings button at the bottom-left corner of the screen.
  • Navigate to the Outgoing Server tab and select the "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" checkbox.
  • Make sure that you select the "Use same settings as my incoming mail server" button and go to the Advanced tab.
  • Enter port number 993 as the server port for the Incoming server (IMAP) to fix the issue cannot access Gmail from outlook.
  • Enter 465 as the server port for the Outgoing server (SMTP).
  • Select SSL as the encryption type for both the server settings.
  • Click the OK button and verify your server settings by clicking the Test Account Settings button.
  • Click the Next button followed by Close to finish the setup.
  • Restart your computer and relaunch the Outlook app.
  • Now, check if the Gmail account is accessible from the Outlook app after fixing the issue cannot access Gmail from outlook.
