Check your Internet Connection

  • The primary troubleshooting option is to check the internet connection to your computer.
  • If the internet connection is faulty, check to see if the computer is configured to the router properly.
  • Log in to your router settings in the browser by entering its IP address and the login credentials and solve the connectivity issues if any.
  • Also, make sure you have the recipient's e-mail address entered correctly, else you will find the mail sending being failed.

Check settings for the e-mail account

  • The incoming, outgoing, username and password settings for the email account in Outlook can also be a cause for the email error 0x800CCC0E.
  • Check the account settings and make proper changes to the IMAP and SMTP servers. Make sure the port numbers are entered correctly with the appropriate TLS/SSL encryption.
  • To make changes, click on the following options in order
  • Files > Tools > Account Settings. When the account settings window opens, click on the E-mail tab and select the e-mail account from the list.
  • When the new e-mail window opens, click the More Settings button.
  • In the outgoing server window that opens check to see if the information entered is correct.

Change server port number

  • Open Outlook.
  • Select the following options in order, File > Tools > Account Settings.
  • Click on the E-mail tab in the account settings window.
  • Select your e-mail id from the list.
  • A new E-mail account window should open. 
  • Click on the More Settings button and the new e-mail window will open.
  • Navigate to the Advanced tab and make change the Outgoing server (SMTP) port number to 587.
  • Click on OK to apply the changes.
  • In the Outgoing server tab, click the checkbox My Outgoing Server (SMTP) requires Authentication.
  • Restart your Outlook application to see if the error persists.

Increase Server Timeout Setting

  • Launch your Outlook application.
  • Navigate to the File tab and click the Info button.
  • Click on Account Settings, then click the Target account, and the Change button.
  • Click More Settings and click the Advanced tab.
  • You can increase the server timeout settings until the email error 0x800CCC0E is resolved.
