How To Fix Gmail Connection Problems?

Gmail is the most popular email service globally that you can access using a web browser or an email client application. Sometimes its service can go down due to connection issues. Various problems might lead to connection failure. However, the error message that appears on the screen could help in finding the cause for the connection issue and fix it. Solution-1: Delete unwanted emails

  • Gmail provides a maximum of 15GB storage, which includes Drive, Gmail, and Google Photos.
  • When the maximum storage is being consumed, the Gmail service can slow down or lead to connection failure.
  • You have to delete photos, drive files, old emails in the Gmail to free up some space. 
  • After deleting your data, close the Gmail account and reopen it to see if the Gmail connection problems is fixed.

Solution-2: Erase the Cache & Cookies

  • If you face the connection problem when you access your Gmail account from a web browser, it can be caused by the Cache and Cookies of the browser. 
  • In case you are using Chrome, open the app and click the More Options icon at the upper right end. 
  • Select Settings followed by Show advanced setting and finally choose Clear browsing data.
  • On the next screen, click the Time range drop-down menu and select the time duration for which the cache memory needs to be deleted.
  • Tick the checkboxes of ‘Cookies and other site files’ and ‘Cached images and files.’
  • Click the Clear Data button.

Solution-3: Update the Gmail app

  • If the connection issue occurs while using the Gmail app, see that the app is updated.
  • If not, then update the app and try to connect to the Gmail service.
  • Even after updating if you cannot connect to Gmail, update the device software and retry to access the Gmail account on the app.

Solution-4: Re-add the account

  • Launch the Gmail app on your mobile phone and tap the hamburger icon at the top left corner.
  • Once a panel opens on the left, select the small down-arrow icon beside your profile name and choose Manage accounts.
  • Next, a list of accounts on the Gmail app will be displayed. Now tap Edit at the top.
  • Tap on the Remove button of your Gmail account to remove the account.
  • Again, select Remove in the pop-up box and then tap Done.
  • Close the app and reopen it, add your Gmail account, and see if you could access the mailbox and Gmail connection problems is fixed.
