How To Fix Outlook Encryption Error? 

The Outlook Encryption error is experienced by most of the users after updating their Windows system and the Microsoft Office application. As a result of this error, the users may not be able to send or receive emails on their Outlook account. You can solve the Outlook encryption error by performing the simple troubleshooting methods given below.

Solution 1: Check your computer’s internet connection status

If your Windows computer is not connected to a stable internet, then there is a chance for this outlook encryption error is to occur. Make sure to connect your computer to a stable internet to work with Outlook clients.

Solution 2: Disable the SSL option on your Outlook Email Client Settings

  • Launch the Outlook application on your computer.
  • Click the File menu followed by the Info tab.
  • Select Account Settings > Account Settings.
  • In the Account Settings dialog box, choose your email account and click the Change Account Settings option.
  • Now, the Exchange Account Settings window will open.
  • Locate and click the More Settings button in it.
  • Click the Advanced tab.
  • Disable the This server required on encrypted connection (SSL) option by unticking the checkbox beside it.
  • If you can’t find the above option, click the More Settings button followed by the Security tab.
  • Now, locate and uncheck the box beside the Encrypt data between Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Exchange option.
  • Click the Apply button followed by OK.
  • Now, check if the Outlook encryption error is solved.
  • If not, uninstall the feature update of your Windows computer by following the instructions given below.

Solution 3: Uninstalling the feature update of your Windows computer

  • Click Start > Settings > Update and Security > Windows Update > View update history.
  • Now, the View Update History window will appear on the screen.
  • Locate and click the Uninstall Updates command link.
  • Now, the list of installed updates will appear on the screen.
  • Locate and select the recent updates and click the Uninstall button provided at the top of the Uninstall an Update screen.

Solution 4: Disable your Windows computer’s Firewall option

  • Sometimes, your Windows computer’s Firewall feature may be causing the encryption error in the Outlook application.
  • Click Start > Settings > Update and Security > Windows Security > Firewall and Network Protection.
  • Now, the list of networks configured on your computer will appear on the screen.
  • From the displayed list, select the active network.
  • Click the slide icon in the Windows Defender Firewall section.
  • Disable the antivirus software installed on your Windows computer for an hour.
  • Check if the Outlook encryption error is solved.

Solution 5: Repair your Outlook application

If the Outlook encryption error persists, repair your Outlook application by performing the quick steps given below.

  • Navigate to your Windows computer’s Programs and Features section.
  • Locate and select the Microsoft Office option.
  • Click the Change button.
  • Now, the Repair window appears with two options; Quick Repair and Online Repair.
  • First, select the Quick Repair option by clicking the radio button next to it.
  • Click the Repair button. Check if the Outlook encryption error is solved.
  • If not, select the Online Repair option in the Repair window.
  • Click the Repair button. If the Outlook encryption error issue persists, delete the account and reconfigure it.
