How To Fix Outlook Login Problems?

The Microsoft Outlook cannot connect to its Exchange server. Most of the times, all that needs to be done to fix the issue is just close Outlook and restarting it. Otherwise, it can also be a much more challenging task. If you need solutions on how to fix Outlook login problems, make use of the instructions below.

Solution 1:

  • Try to disable or uncheck the offline mode to fix the Outlook login issues.
  • Select the File menu and check if there is a mark next to Work Offline.
  • If yes, then try these steps for OS running with Outlook 2010 or higher:
  • Tap on the Send/Receive button.
  • Search for the Work Offline button and choose it.
  • Tap on the Offline button.
  • A message will display at the bottom of your Outlook window saying “Trying to Connect.”

Solution 3:

There are 2 types of data files (.pst and .ost) used in then Outlook. Both types are susceptible to errors that may result in connectivity issues. Try these steps:

  • Step 1: Close the Outlook and open the Control Panel.
  • Step 2: Search for the Mail icon.
  • Step 3: Click on Data Files in the resulting window.
  • Step 4: Choose your data file from the displayed list. Tap on Open File Location.
  • Step 5: Search for the data file in question having the same name as your email address.
  • Step 6: Rename the file with extension .ost to .OLD. Leave the file name unchanged if the extension is .pst.
  • Step 7: The window can be closed now and open Outlook. Check if the Outlook login problems has been resolved.

If the data file has an extension .pst, then try these steps.

  • Outlook 2019: Enter C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\Office16
  • Outlook 2016 - C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\Office16
  • Outlook 2013 - C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office15
  • Outlook 2010 - C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14
  • Outlook 2007 - C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office12

Follow these steps inside that folder.

  • Step 1: Double-click on the SCANPST.EXE file and click Browse from the resulting window.
  • Step 2: Locate your .pst file and choose the Start button. The Scanpst will prompt you to click the Repair button if it finds errors in the data file.
  • Step 3: Close Scanpst and re-open MS Outlook after the repair is completed. Continue with the next solution if Outlook cannot connect.

Solution 4:

To resolve this Outlook login problems, you can run a repair of Microsoft Office installation using these steps.

  • Step 1: Open the Control Panel and click on the Programs and Features option.
  • Step 2: Search for the entry of the Microsoft Office installation and choose it.
  • Step 3: Select the Change button.
  • Step 4: Choose the Repair option from the resulting window.
  • Step 5: Select the Continue option.
  • Step 6: Wait until the repair completes.
  • Step 7: Finally, reboot your PC.
  • Step 8: Start Outlook after the computer is rebooted. If the problem prevails, dial the Toll-free number.

Solution 5:

If the outlook login issue persists, try to recreate your MS Outlook profile. The new profile can be created without deleting the old one. You need to know your account setting to recreate your profile. So, have that information in hand before you start. Use these steps to recreate a profile.

  • Step 1: Open the Control Panel and then open Mail.
  • Step 2: Click on the Show Profiles button and choose the Add button.
  • Step 3: Input a profile name and continue through the Outlook account setup wizard.
  • Step 4: When the new profile starts working, either set that profile up as the default or remove the old profile.
