How To Fix Smtp Connect Error 10060? 

The error code 10060 is a common Outlook Express error or socket error that occurs when the SMTP connection fails. It is due to various reasons such as firewall block, SMTP host failure, invalid authentication of the SMTP server, etc., If you wish to resolve the SMTP connect error 10060, follow the below-mentioned troubleshooting steps.

Method: 1

  • On your Windows desktop, click the Start menu and type “run” in the search panel.
  • Press the Enter button and give a double-click on the Run command from the search result.
  • Alternatively, press the Windows + R shortcut keys to open the Run panel.
  • In the Run dialogue box, type “inetcpl.cpl” in the text box and hit the Enter key or click the OK button.
  • In the Internet Properties window, click the Connections tab and select LAN Settings.
  • In the LAN Settings window, uncheck the Use a proxy for your LAN checkbox and click OK to resolve the SMTP connect error 10060 issue.

Method: 2

  • On your Windows desktop, open the Run panel by pressing the Windows + R shortcut keys.
  • Enter “Regedit” in the text field and hit the Enter key open the Windows Registry Editor.
  • In the Registry Editor window, go to the below file path:
  • “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\\Services\\W3Proxy\\Parameters”
  • Give a right-click on the RequestTimeOutSecs option and select Modify.
  • Select Decimal and set the value to more than 180.
  • Click OK and close the Windows Registry Editor.
  • Restart your computer and check if the SMTP connect error 10060 reappears.

Method: 3

  • Open the Microsoft Outlook app and click the File tab at the top-left corner of the screen.
  • Select Info from the left-side panel and click the Account Settings button.
  • Choose your email account and click the Change button to edit your email server settings.
  • On the Internet Email Settings screen, click the More Settings button and select the Outgoing Server tab.
  • Select the My outgoing server requires authentication checkbox and click the OK button.
  • Restart the Outlook app and check if the SMTP connect error 10060 is resolved.
