Issue: Gmail Is Not Opening In Any Browser  

Many people across the globe now prefer using Google Chrome to use Gmail. But now, users are stating that they are facing the Gmail loading error not only on Google Chrome but also on other browsers as well. No matter how easy and efficient the browser is, there are always some technical issues, and fixing the error could be quite a task. We will now be taking you through some troubleshooting methods to see if either one of the methods helps you in resolving the Gmail loading problem and the issue of Gmail is not opening in any browser.

Gmail is not opening in any browser

METHOD 1: OPEN GMAIL IN A SEPARATE WINDOW ON YOUR COMPUTER

  • If you are working on Gmail in Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox, and you have multiple tabs open, that could always cause the error.
  • So, the best solution is to click on a new tab and enter the URL for Gmail.
  • Another alternative way is to open the tab in Incognito Mode, which gives you more private browsing experience.
  • Enter the Gmail URL and see if the page loads.

See if this fixes the solution. The method is anyway not a permanent fix and has to be used when you want to have some emergency email sent.

 

METHOD 2: EXTENSIONS AND PLUGINS ON YOUR COMPUTER

The extensions and the add-ons you have installed in your browser will stop the chrome browser from accessing certain websites, and Gmail might be one of them. so, you may get the issue Gmail is not opening in any browser.

Follow the steps to disable extensions in 

 

Google Chrome:

  • Open the Google Chrome browser.
  • Click the three-dotted icon on the extreme right corner of the window.
  • Click More Tools and select the Extensions option.
  • Deselect the checkbox beside an extension to disable it. You can also select the trash icon next to the extension to delete it.
  • In the Chrome address bar, enter the URL chrome://plugins to have a look at the installed plugins in your browser.
  • Click the Disable button for each plugin you want to remove. 

Mozilla Firefox:

  • Open the Firefox browser.
  • Click the three-lined (Menu) option on at the top-right corner of the browser.
  • Select the Add-ons option and then click Extensions.
  • You have to scroll the list of extensions and then click the blue slider at its right side to disable an extension.
  • Save changes.

METHOD 3: CHECK GMAIL LABS ON YOUR BROWSER SETTINGS

  • When you get to open Gmail, click the three-dotted icon at the top-right corner off the screen.
  • Select Settings and click Labs Tab.
  • Disable the labs one by one, and click Save Changes at the bottom of the Settings tab. Now check the issue Gmail is not opening in any browser.

METHOD 4: ANTIVIRUS/ FIREWALL AND THIRD-PARTY APPLICATIONS

  • The antivirus or Firewall settings can always cause some issues and conflict in the name of protecting the computer.
  • You can temporarily disable the antivirus or the Firewall from the computer settings.
  • You can also opt to remove the antivirus if the problem persists and install a better antivirus software.
  • There are also other applications that can cause a ruckus and interrupt while opening Gmail on any browser.
  • Disable them temporarily and check if the issue Gmail is not opening in any browser is resolved.

METHOD 5: UPDATE BROWSERS ON YOUR COMPUTER

  • Make sure you use reputed browsers like Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Internet Explorer.
  • If you are using one of the above-mentioned browsers, make sure you have the latest versions of the browser updated. 

Google Chrome-

  • Open the Google Chrome browser.
  • Click on the menu at the top-right corner of the browser.
  • Scroll down the list and click the More option.
  • Click the button Update Google Chrome.
  • If you find a new version of Chrome available, the browser will be updated.
  • Close and open the Google Chrome browser.
  • Check that your issue Gmail is not opening in any browser is resolved or not.

Internet Explorer-

  • Open the Internet Explorer browser.
  • Click the Settings icon (gear icon) at the top-right corner of the browser.
  • Select the About Internet Explorer option.
  • Click the checkbox beside Install New Versions Automatically.
  • Click the Close button.

Mozilla Firefox-

  • Open the Mozilla Firefox browser.
  • Click the menu icon on the browser.
  • Click the Help button and select the option About Firefox.
  • The Firefox browser will now check for updates and download them automatically.
  • Once the download is complete, restart the browser. 

METHOD 6: CLEAR COOKIES AND CACHES ON YOUR BROWSER

 

Google Chrome-

  • Open the Google Chrome browser.
  • Click on the three-lined icon located next to the address bar.
  • Select Tools and click the Clear browsing data option.
  • A dialog box will open, click the checkbox beside Clear browsing history, Clear download history, Empty the cache, Delete cookies options.
  • Click the Clear browsing data button and checks the issue Gmail is not opening in any browser.

Internet Explorer-

  • Open the Internet Explorer browser, click the Tools option at the right side of the window.
  • Click Internet Options and then choose the General tab.
  • Locate the Browsing History section from the General tab and click the Delete button.
  • A dialog box will appear, click the Cookies and Temporary Internet Files option from the list and click the Delete button.
  • Select Apply and click OK to close the window.

Mozilla Firefox-

  • Open the Firefox browser, 
  • Click Options from the taskbar of the browser.
  • Select the Advanced option and click the Network tab.
  • In the Offline Storage section, you will see the space used by the cache. Click the Clear Now button.
