Solution 1: Disable the Always Prompt for Logon Credentials option

  • Step 1:To begin with, launch Microsoft Outlook 365 and then go to the top-left corner.
  • Step 2:Click the File tab and select the Account Setting option.
  • Step 3:Click on More Setting and then go to the Security tab.
  • Step 4:Deselect the Always Prompt for Logon Credentials checkbox.
  • Step 5:Save the settings. This will fix the password prompt issues and Outlook 365 will accept the password.

Solution 2: Disconnect the Microsoft account from MS Office apps

  • Step 1:First, open Outlook Settings and then go to Email & Accounts.
  • Step 2:Disconnect your Outlook account and proceed with the password reset.
  • Step 3:Enter a new password for your MS Outlook account and log in with the new credentials.
  • Step 4:This will fix the issue with Outlook 365, which is not accepting the password.

Solution 3: Change the Microsoft Exchange settings

  • Step 1:On your Windows computer, click the Start menu and type ‘control’ in the search panel.
  • Step 2:Click to open Control Panel from the search result.
  • Step 3:Click the Mail tab in the Control Panel window.
  • Step 4:Select the option Show Profiles.
  • Step 5:Choose your Outlook profile and click on Properties.
  • Step 6:Next, click the Email tab and choose your Microsoft Exchange account.
  • Step 7:Click the Change button and select the Remember Password checkbox.
  • Step 8:Click More Settings and go to the Security tab.
  • Step 9:Select the Anonymous Authentication option from the drop-down menu below Logon network security.
  • Step 10:Save the settings and restart Outlook.
  • Step 11:If necessary, you can also update Outlook.
