Issue: Outlook 365 Not Syncing With Gmail  

If you have configured your Gmail account in the Outlook 365 email client, you might be able to access all your email messages. However, if your Outlook 365 not syncing with Gmail, then you’ll definitely miss your emails and contacts. In order to fix this issue, you can follow one or more of the methods given here.

Method 1: Allow less secure app

While configuring your Gmail account on Outlook 365, you must enable the Allow less secure apps option in your Google Account settings. However, if you have missed this step, then make use of the following steps to enable the option and fix the Outlook 365 not syncing with Gmail issue.

  • Open a web browser on your computer and go to the Gmail sign in page.
  • Enter your Gmail address and password to sign in.
  • On your Gmail account page, click your profile icon and then select the My Account button.

  • Now, locate the Allow less secure apps option and click the toggle button near it to enable it.

Method 2: Create App Password

If you have enabled the 2-step verification feature on your Google account, then you might need the App password to access your Gmail account on any other app. Note: The app password is not your Gmail password.

  • Make use of the following steps to generate the App Password for Outlook 365.
  • Go to your Google account page first.
  • Here, you have to select Security and then you have to select the App Passwords option under Signing in to Google.
  • Choose the Select app option and choose the Outlook 365 app. Then, click Generate and carry out the instructions displayed on the screen.
  • Make a note of the generated app password, as you might need it to access your Gmail account on Outlook 365.

Method 3: Enable Connected Experiences

In some cases, enabling the Enable connected experiences option has resolved the sync issue. The steps are as follows:

  • Launch Outlook 365 and click the Office Account option on the left panel.
  • Select the Account Privacy option followed by Manage Settings.
  • Now, locate the Enable connected experiences option and enable the checkbox beside it.

Method 4: Revoke update

Sometimes, the sync problem might arise immediately after you update your computer or Outlook 365. In such cases, restore the email client or the computer to an earlier point before the update was done.

Method 5: Re-configure the account

  • Another method to fix the sync issue would be to remove your Gmail account from Outlook 365 and then configure it again.
  • While re-configuring your Gmail account, make sure to enter the server settings correctly. Also, make use of IMAP, which is preferred, as the incoming server.
