How To Fix Problem With My Local Email Client?  

An email client is an application that lets you access multiple email accounts and stores the emails on the computer (local) after downloading them from the server. A few popular email clients are Microsoft Outlook, Apple Mail, Mozilla Thunderbird, and eMclient.Learn how to fix the problem with my local email client by referring to the steps below.

Problem-1: Login error

  • Once you launch the email client app on the computer, enter the login username and password.
  • See that the username and password are valid and correct.
  • Before entering the email credentials, check the CapsLock and NumLock of the keyboard.
  • The username and password are case sensitive.

Problem-2: Cannot send/receive emails

  • The email servers are responsible for sending and receiving emails.
  • When adding an email account to the email client, the email server settings are configured.
  • Go to the settings menu and open the email server settings.
  • Check if the incoming mail and outgoing mail server settings such as the port numbers and the mail server addresses are correct.
  • The incoming mail server can be IMAP or POP3, while SMTP is the outgoing server.
  • Check the internet connection on the computer and check the problem with my local email client.

Problem-3: Authentication error

  • Before adding an email account to the client, you need to enable the setting that allows you to access email accounts on third-party apps.
  • Some email accounts have to generate an app password to access the emails on the client app.
  • Check the authentication settings of the outgoing mail server (SMTP).
  • Set your email account’s username and password for the outgoing mail server authentication.
  • Verify the security type for the incoming and outgoing mail servers and the problem with my local email client is fixed.
