How To Make An E-mail Confidential In Outlook 365?

While sending an email with a message and an attachment, there is a chance for unauthorized access of that email. Various mail sending options are handled by the email service providers to avoid these kinds of situations. For example, Gmail uses the Confidential mode to provide protection for sensitive information from unauthorized access. Similarly, in Outlook 365, you can set a sensitivity level for the message you send. The section given below explains how to make an e-mail confidential in Outlook 365.

In the following section, we shall see the procedure to send emails at a specific time in Outlook.

Making an email confidential in Outlook 365

  • Step 1:Initially, make sure that you have composed the email message that you want to send and have saved it in the draft folder. 
  • Step 2:Now, open the draft folder of the Outlook 365 application and check whether the email message you have composed is listed. If yes, continue with the following instructions. Otherwise, re-compose the mail.
  • Step 3:On the draft screen, click on the File menu.
  • Step 4:Select the Properties option.
  • Step 5:Locate the Sensitivity option under Settings. Click on the option.
  • Step 6:From the drop-down (Sensitivity) menu, select the Confidential option and click Close. Now, send the composed e-mail message to check whether the sensitivity level works.

Note: When you send the e-mail message with the Confidential sensitivity level, the message “Please treat this as Confidential” will be displayed on the recipient’s Information bar.

  • Step 7:Go to the File menu of the Outlook 365 application.
  • Step 8:Select Options followed by Mail.
  • Step 9:Navigate to the Send messages section.
  • Step 10:Now, from the Default Sensitivity level list, select the Confidential option and save it.
