Steps to set up Gmail in Outlook 2010

  • Step 1:Turn on your PC and connect it to the Internet.
  • Step 2:Open the web browser and access your Gmail account.
  • Step 3:Sign in to your account by providing the username and password.
  • Step 4:Click on the Gear icon from the top-right corner of the Gmail account page and click on Settings.
  • Step 5:Select the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab on the Settings page.
  • Step 6:Choose Enable IMAP in the IMAP access section and select the Save changes option by scrolling down the page.
  • Step 7:Now, log out from the Gmail account and open the Outlook 2010 application on your PC.
  • Step 8:Select the File menu from the top of the page and choose the Account settings option.
  • Step 9:The Account Settings window will pop up on the desktop.
  • Step 10:Choose the New option in the Account Settings window to create a Gmail account.
  • Step 11:Select the Manually configure the server settings option and click Next.
  • Step 12:In the next window, provide the required details, such as username and email address, and select IMAP in the Account type field.
  • Step 13:Provide imap.gmail.com in the Incoming mail server field and smtp.gmail.com in the Outgoing mail server field.
  • Step 14:Make sure you provide the correct email address and password in the required fields.
  • Step 15:Select the More Settings option and then choose the Outgoing server tab.
  • Step 16:Make sure the Outgoing and Incoming server settings are checked and click OK.
  • Step 17:Select the Advanced tab and make sure you provide 993 in the Incoming server box and 465 in the Outgoing server box, select the Server value as SSL, and click OK.
  • Step 18:Press Next and select Finish.
