Set Up Gmail In Outlook 2010

SET UP GMAIL IN OUTLOOK 2010:

You can configure any email account in the Microsoft Outlook email client. It is very simple to set up the Gmail account in Outlook 2010. Follow the steps given below and access your Gmail in Outlook 2010.

How to configure Gmail in Outlook 2010?

  • Step 1:Open the default browser and log in to your Gmail account using the correct login credentials on a Windows computer.
  • Step 2:Click the Settings icon and then click See all settings.
  • Step 3:In the following menu, click Forwarding and POP/IMAP and then select the Enable IMAP radio button.
  • Step 4:Finally, click Save changes.
  • Step 5:Launch Outlook on the computer.

  • Step 6:If you are using the Outlook 2010 app for the first time, click Next in the welcome window and click Add a new e-mail account. Now, click Next.
  • Step 7:On the next screen, click the Yes radio button and then click Next.

Manually configuring Gmail in Outlook 2010:

  • Step 1:In the Add Account Setup window, select the radio button for Manually configure server settings or additional server types and then click Next.
  • Step 2:Select Internet E-mail on the Choose Service screen and then click Next.
  • Step 3:Enter your name and Gmail address in the fields below User Information in the Internet E-mail Settings window.
  • Step 4:Below Server Information, select POP3 from the Account Type drop-down box.
  • Step 5:Type ‘pop.gmail.com’ in the Account Type text field.
  • Step 6:Type ‘smtp.gmail.com’ in the Outgoing mail server (SMTP) text field.
  • Step 7:Below the Logon Information section, type your user name in the User Name text field and your Gmail password in the Password text field.
  • Step 8:Click More Settings; now a new dialog box opens.
  • Step 9:In the dialog box that appears, go to the Outgoing Server tab.
  • Step 10:Select the checkbox for My outgoing server(SMTP) requires authentication and then click the Use same settings as my incoming mail server radio button.
  • Step 11:Now, click the Advanced tab.
  • Step 12:Below Server Port Number, type the following number in the required fields.
  • Step 13:Incoming server (POP3): 995
  • Step 14:Outgoing server (SMTP): 587
  • Step 15:Click SSL from Use the following type of encrypted connection drop-down box and then click OK.
  • Step 16:Now, click Next and the Test Account Settings dialog box pops up.
  • Step 17:If prompted, type the server name, user name, and password in the required field and then click OK.

Verifying your Gmail account:

  • Step 1:Now, in the web browser, click Manage your Google Account and then select Security.
  • Step 2:Scroll down and then click Turn on access (not recommended) below the Less secure app access section on the Google Account manager page.
  • Step 3:On the next screen, enable the Allow less secure apps toggle button.
  • Step 4:Now, click the security email you received on your Gmail account and then click Check activity.
  • Step 5:On the next screen, click Yes, it was me on the alert screen.
  • Step 6:Next, on the Outlook Test Account Settings screen, you can see two tasks and check the Completed message's status.
  • Step 7:If both the Log onto incoming mail server (POP3) and Send test e-mail message tasks are completed, go to the Outlook 2010 app.
  • Step 8:You can see your Gmail account on the Outlook screen. Expand your Gmail address and click Inbox.
  • Step 9:Now, your Gmail message will automatically pop up one after the other.
  • Step 10:You have now successfully set up Gmail in Outlook 2010.
