  • First of all, install the SMTP Service on your computer.
  • To do so, follow the instructions given below to setup SMTP server Windows 2016.
  • On your computer, launch the Server Manager dashboard.
  • In the dashboard window, click the Manage tab.
  • Click the Add Roles & Features command line.
  • Now, a pop-up dialog box titled ’Before you begin’ will appear on your computer screen.
  • Click the Next button.
  • Select the Role-based or feature-based installation option by clicking the radio button beside it.
  • Click the Server Selection tab.
 
  • Click the radio button beside the Select a server from the server pool option.
  • Click the Next button. Go to the Server Roles.
  • Choose the server role as per your desire. Click Next.
  • Go to the Features section and scroll to the Features list.
  • Select the SMTP Server feature by clicking the checkbox beside it.
  • Click the Add Features button followed by Next.
  • Choose the Restart the destination server automatically if required option.
  • Click the Install button.
  • Wait for the installation to complete.
  • Once the setup SMTP server Windows 2016 process completes, click the Close button.

Set up SMTP Services

  • On your computer, launch the Internet Information Sevices (IIS) 6.0 Manager window by following the instructions given below to setup SMTP server Windows 2016.
  • Open the Control Panel application.
  • Click the All Control Panel Items option followed by Administration Tools.
  • Search for the Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 Manager option in the Administration Tools window and double-click on it.
  • Select and right-click on the SMTP Virtual Server #1 option
  • Click the Properties option.
  • Now, a dialog box titled SMTP Virtual Server #1 Properties will open.
  • Click the General tab.
  • Select the server’s IP address from the drop-down menu.
  • Now, go to the Access section.
  • Click the Connection button.
  • Now, the Connection window will open.
  • Select the Only the list below option by clicking the radio button beside it.
  • Click the Add button.
  • Enter the permitted device’s IP address in the given field. Click OK.
  • Now, you will be redirected to the Access tab.
  • In the Access tab, click the Relay button to allow the same permitted devices to the relay restrictions.
  • Click the Delivery tab of the Connection window.
  • Click the Advanced button. Set an external domain correctly and click OK > OK.
  • Now, open the Run application. Type the wf.msc command.
  • Now, the Windows Firewall window will open with Advanced Security console.
  • Select the Port option and click Next.
  • Click the radio button beside TCP.
  • Enter 25 in the text field beside Local port and click Next.
  • Choose the Allow the connection option.
  • Deselect the Public option.
  • When prompted, enter the rule name in the given field.
  • Now, click the Finish button.
  • Check if the new rule is enabled in the Firewall Management console.
  • Run the wf.msc command again. Click the OK button.
