How to add Yahoo mail in Outlook:

  • Step 1: Adding Yahoo mail in Outlook is simple; follow the below steps.
  • Step 2: Open the Outlook app on your Windows computer.
  • Step 3: On the Outlook app, click the Files group in the top-left corner of the screen.
  • Step 4: Click + Add Account.
  • Step 5: A new pop-up screen opens. Here, enter your Yahoo mail id in the text field.
  • Step 6: If prompted, enter the Yahoo mail password and then click OK > Finish.
  • Step 7: If you have activated the two-step verification on Yahoo mail, you can’t login via the Outlook email client.
  • Step 8: To add the Yahoo mail, you have to generate an app password on Yahoo mail.
  • Step 9: Now, follow the steps to generate an app password on Yahoo mail.
  • Step 10: Log in to your Yahoo mail using the correct login credentials.
  • Step 11: Now, click Account info > Account security; if prompted again, sign in to your Yahoo mail account.
  • Step 12: Click Manage app Passwords, now click the drop-down list, and then select Outlook Desktop.
  • Step 13: After that, click Generate.
  • Step 14: Now, Yahoo will display the app password. Copy the password and save it.
  • Step 15: Next, open the Outlook app, enter your email id, and paste the generated app password.
  • Step 16: Finally, Yahoo mail is added to Outlook successfully.

How to add Yahoo mail manually to Outlook?

  • Step 1: Open the Outlook app on the Windows computer.
  • Step 2: Click Files and then click + Add Account.
  • Step 3: Now, enter your Yahoo email address on the next screen.
  • Step 4: Click Advanced options and then select the checkbox for Let me set up my account manually, and then click Connect.
  • Step 5: On the Choose Service screen, select the radio button for POP or IMAP, and then click Next.
  • Step 6: On the POP and IMAP Account Settings screen, type your name and your Yahoo mail id in the respective text fields.
  • Step 7: Below the Server Information, click the Account Type drop-down box and select IMAP.
  • Step 8: In the incoming mail server text field, type imap.mail.yahoo.com
  • Step 9: In the outgoing mail server settings (smtp) field, enter smtp.mail.yahoo.com
  • Step 10: Below Logon Information, type the user name in the User Name text field.
  • Step 11: Type the password in the Password text field.
  • Step 12: If necessary, select the checkbox beside Remember password.
  • Step 13: Now, click More Settings.
  • Step 14: Click the Outgoing Server tab and then select the checkbox My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.
  • Step 15: Next, select the radio button for Use same settings as my incoming mail server and then click OK.
  • Step 16: Click the Advanced tab and type ‘993’ in the Incoming server (IMAP) text box. Next, select SSL from the below drop-down box.
  • Step 17: Now, type ‘587’ in the Outgoing server (SMTP) field and then select TLS from the below drop-down box.
  • Step 18: Click OK and then click Next.
  • Step 19: Once the settings are complete, close the screen.
  • Step 20: Now, open the Outlook app and wait for a few seconds; Yahoo mail automatically appears on the screen.
