How To Setup Your Own Email Server?  

In this tutorial, we’ll walk you through how to set up your own email server.Generally, most email service providers scan user information for security purposes. Setup Your Own Email Server 

In the below section, we have explained how to set up your email server on the Windows OS using hMailServer, which is a free and flexible email server.

  • Download the hMailServer installer from its official site.
  • After downloading the installer, run it on your Windows computer.
  • In the Welcome window, click Next. Read and accept the license agreement of the server and click Next.
  • In the Select Components screen, you can find two components: Server and Administrative tools. If you wish to use your local computer as a server, then select Server and click Next. To access your email server remotely, select Administrative tools in the Select Components dialog box.
  • Choose the database server type of your desire in the next window. Generally, the built-in database engine is selected by default.
  • Choose the location to save the program shortcuts and click Next.
  • Enter the password to manage hMailServer installation.
  • Click Next > Install. 
  • In the Completing the hMailServer Setup Wizard, select the Run hMailServer Administrator option and click Finish.
  • Once the hMailServer installation is complete, the main window will open.
  • Click the Connect button provided in the window. 
  • Now, enter the hMailServer installation password that you have created and click OK.
  • In the new window that opens, click the Add domain button.
  • Navigate to the General tab.
  • In the Domain field, type your domain name to setup your own email server.
  • Click the checkbox beside Enabled followed by the Save button.
  • Now, expand the Domains tab and click on the Account sub-tab.
  • Click the General tab and type your account details such as address and password. Then click Save.
  • Now, click the Settings tab in the left pane. Choose the Protocols menu followed by the SMTP option.
  • Disable the POP and IMAP option.
  • Click the Advanced menu under the Settings (in the left pane) tab.
  • In the Default domain field, type localhost and click Save.
  • Now, expand the Advanced menu and click the Auto ban option.
  • Deselect the Enabled option and click Save.
  • Expand the IP Ranges sub-menu in the Advanced menu.
  • Click the TCP/IP ports option. Now, you can see the ports that are configured for your mail servers IMAP, POP, and SMTP while setup your own email server.
  • Now, test your configuration.
  • To do so, expand the Utilities tab and select the Diagnostics option.
  • Type your domain name in the given field and click Start. 
  • If the mail server configuration is done correctly, you can see a green icon beside the server.
