How To Troubleshooting Outlook Email Setup?  

Setting up an email account in the Outlook email client is not a tedious task. But, if you make one small mistake while setting up the email account, you are bound to face numerous errors. While setting up an email account in Outlook, if the process is done automatically, then there won’t be any issues. But while troubleshooting Outlook email setup manually, you have to be sure about your email account’s settings information.

Also, you can always cross check by sending a test mail once you have set up an email account in Outlook. If you find your test mail to be not successful, perform the troubleshooting steps mentioned below.

Troubleshooting Outlook Email Setup 
  • Open the Outlook application and click the File tab on the top pane of the Outlook application.
  • Select the Account Settings option and click Account Settings from the list.
  • Select the Email account you want to troubleshooting Outlook email setup.
  • The Email account settings window will open the Change Account dialog box.
  • You have to make sure if you have entered all the information correctly.
  • Enter the correct username and password in the Logon information section.
  • Most importantly, check if you have entered the proper Incoming server and Outgoing server addresses.
  • Click and deselect the checkbox beside the Require Login Using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) option.
  • Now, click the Test Account settings option to see if you have resolved the issue.
  • If the issue has not been fixed, click the More Settings button at the bottom of the page.
  • The Internet Email settings window will open.
  • Click the Outgoing server tab in the pop-up window.
  • Click the checkbox beside My Outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.
  • Click the OK button.
  • Now go back to the test page section and click the Test Account settings option to see if the issue has been solved.
  • Click the Advanced tab and check if the port numbers for the Incoming server and Outgoing server are entered correctly.
  • Make sure to set the Server Timeout option as Short.
  • Click the OK button.
  • Now, the email setup issues troubleshooting Outlook email setup should be resolved. If not, remove your email account and set it up in Outlook, again from the beginning.
