Setting Up SMTP In Microsoft Email

If you want to send an email to a third-party application or if you're going to send an email to people inside and outside your organization, setting up SMTP in Microsoft email is the way to go.

  • Open your Office 365 application.
  • Select the File option and select Add Account.
  • Choose the Manual Setup radio button in the Choose Service box, situated below the Automatic configuration.
  • Choose the POP or IMAP option and click Next.
  • Enter the following settings for IMAP and SMTP.

  • For IMAP settings,
  • Incoming server name - Outlook.office365.com
  • Incoming port number - 993
  • Encryption Method - SSL (Secured Shell)
  • In SMTP settings
  • Incoming Server name - smtp.office365.com
  • Outgoing server name - 587
  • Encryption Method - TLS (Transport Layer Security)

For Outgoing server settings, click Outgoing server requires authentication.

Click the radio button next to Use the same settings as the incoming server.

Click Close and Finish.

You can now use Office 365 with SMTP configured and Setting Up SMTP In Microsoft Email is completed.
