  • Step 1:On your computer, open the default browser after ensuring that you have a stable Internet connection while set up Gmail in Outlook 2016.
  • Step 2:Navigate to the official Gmail sign-in page and enter your login credentials to access your Gmail account.
  • Step 3:Next, click the Settings icon available at the top-right corner and select the Settings option from the drop-down list.
  • Step 4:Under Settings, select Forwarding and POP/IMAP and go to the IMAP access section.
  • Step 5:Select the Enable IMAP option and go to the POP download section.
  • Step 6:Choose Enable POP for all mail and click Save Changes.
  • Step 7:Close the browser and begin to set up Gmail in Outlook 2016.
  • Step 8:Launch Microsoft Outlook 2016 and click the File tab at the top-left corner.
  • Step 9:Select the Info tab from the left-side panel and click on Add Account.
  • Step 10:In the pop-up dialog box, enter your email address (Gmail) and password in the required fields and click Next to configure the account settings automatically.
  • Step 11:Otherwise, select the Manual setup or additional server types option and click Next.
  • Step 12:Choose the POP or IMAP option and click Next.
  • Step 13:Enter the required details in the User Information, Server Information, and Logon Information fields and then setup Gmail in Outlook 2016.
  • Step 14:Choose either POP or IMAP as your account type from the drop-down menu under the Server Information section.
  • Step 15:Enter imap.gmail.com in the Incoming mail server field if you are configuring an IMAP account.
  • Step 16:Otherwise, enter pop.gmail.com in the Incoming mail server field and move on to the Outgoing mail server field to enter smtp.gmail.com as the outgoing mail server name.
  • Step 17:After entering your Gmail email address and password in the Logon Information section, click More Settings and move to the Outgoing Server tab.
  • Step 18:Enable the radio button, Use same settings as my incoming mail server and also select the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication checkbox.
  • Step 19:Move to the Advanced tab without clicking OK.
  • Step 20:Fill in the incoming mail server port details for your IMAP or POP account.
  • Step 21:Enter secure port numbers if you wish to use the encrypted connection SSL/TLS.
  • Step 22:Also, enter the outgoing mail server port and click OK to return to the previous screen.
  • Step 23:To verify the configured account settings, click the Test Account Settings button at the right-side pane.
  • Step 24:Once the verification is completed, click Next followed by Close.
