Unable to Delete Emails in Outlook 2010

If you are unable to delete the emails in your inbox, outbox or sent folder, and you receive the “operation failed” or “deleted folder unavailable” message, proceed with the methods given below to fix the issue unable to delete emails in outlook 2010.

Method 1:

Step 1: Reset Folders

  • Press the Windows+R buttons together to open the Command Prompt window.
  • When the window opens, type outlook.exe /resetfolders and press the Enter key.

Step 2: Empty Trash and delete emails

  • Go to your Outlook account and right-click on the Deleted mails folder to select Empty Folder.
  • Select the email messages you want to delete, press the Shift and Delete key together to remove the emails from Outlook 2010.
  • If you can’t resolve the issue, continue with the next step.

Step 3: Restart Outlook

  • Restart the Microsoft Outlook 2010 application. Then, log in to your account and check whether the issue has been resolved.
  • Start your Outlook 2010 app in safe mode and check whether you can delete the emails.
  • To start Outlook in safe mode, go to the Start menu and open the Run dialog box. In the search box, type outlook.exe /safe. Then, press the Enter key.

Method 2:

  • Open the Microsoft Outlook 2010 application and go to the File menu to fix the issue unable to delete emails in outlook 2010.
  • Select the Account Settings option from the list.
  • Select the email account from where you want to delete emails in the Account Settings window. Then, double-click your email to open the email settings.
  • Click on the More Settings tab in the Add Account section.
  • When the Internet E-mail Settings panel appears, navigate to the Advanced tab.
  • Checkmark both the options in the Deleted Items section. Then, click OK.
  • After you have made all the changes, you can now fix the issue unable to delete emails in outlook 2010 from your Outlook account.
